The University of Delhi has invited applications for an all India level entrance test

The University of Delhi has invited applications for an all India level entrance test to be held on July 2 for admission to the following courses conducted at the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Centre for Biomedical Research, New Delhi:


M.Sc.-Ph.D. combined degree in biomedical sciences


Course duration: 4 years (fulltime)


M.Sc. degree in biomedical sciences


Course duration: two years (fulltime)


Eligibility: Bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences/ life sciences/ zoology/ botany/ microbiology/ chemistry/ biochemistry/ environmental biology/ biotechnology/ laboratory techniques/ B.Pharm / B.V.Sc./ MBBS with at least 55 per cent marks (at least 50 per cent for SC/ ST and physically challenged applicants).


Ph.D. degree in biomedical sciences


Areas of specialisations include biochemistry, molecular biology, medicinal chemistry, medical biotechnology, molecular and human genetics, cancer genetics, human physiology, organic chemistry, molecular oncology, tumour virology, natural product chemistry, medical microbiology, immunology, pharmacology, toxicology and instrumentation. The centre has excellent research facilities and will offer various fellowships.


Eligibility: Master's degree in appropriate field of science/ M.Tech./ M.V.Sc./ M.Pharma or MD with a minimum of 55 per cent marks or B.Tech./ MBBS with at least 70 per cent and 60 per cent marks respectively. Candidates with CSIR-UGC/ ICMR/ DBT/ NET for fellowship are preferred. Interview for admission for Ph.D. will be held in July/ August 2011.

Integrated courses at KAU


The Kerala Agricultural University has invited applications for admission to the following fulltime courses:


M.Sc. biotechnology (integrated).


Course duration: Five years after Plus Two. This course is offered at the College of Agriculture, Vellayani, Thiruvananthapuram, and will be conducted in multi–institutional mode, involving institutions engaged in biotechnology teaching/ research to facilitate the utilisation of highly competent manpower and facilities.


M.Sc. climate change adaptation (Integrated).


This also is a five-year integrated course after Plus Two and is offered at the KAU main campus, Thrissur. It helps students to understand the processes and activities that influence climate, analyse and interpret the risks and opportunities associated with climate and climate change, and make recommendations of future adoption and mitigation strategies.


The study also helps students to analyse climate in the context of agricultural environment management, interaction of the atmosphere with the other components of the earth system and the economic and policy issues associated with climate change, sustainability, agricultural productivity and food security, which are the central concerns in the response to climate variability and future climate change. Both these courses are conducted in semester pattern and cover 10 semesters of five-year duration.


Eligibility: A pass in Plus Two/ equivalent examination with science subjects. Candidates must have secured a minimum of 60 per cent marks/ grades. The admission is based on an entrance test conducted by the university.

The duly filled-in application on A4 size paper along with a demand draft for Rs.750 drawn in favour of Comptroller, KAU, Vellanikkara, payable at Thrissur, and attested copies of relevant certificates, one self-addressed stamped envelope (worth Rs.10) should be sent to the Registrar, Kerala Agricultural University, KAU. P.O., Thrissur - 680 656 so as to reach the addressee on or before June 7.


The common entrance test will be held in Thrissur on June 25. There will be two papers. Paper I, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, will cover questions from physics and chemistry. Paper II, from 2 p.m. to 3.20 p.m., will cover questions from mathematics, biology, and general knowledge.


Course fee per semester for M.Sc. biotechnology (integrated) is Rs.30,000 and for M.Sc. climate change adaptation (integrated) is Rs.50,000. For more details visit www.kau.edu.
