Entrance test
The National Power Training Institute (NPTI) under Government of India has invited online applications through the web site www.npti.in for a common entrance test to be held on June 19 for admission to its postgraduate diploma course in thermal power plant engineering conducted at its different centres including Neyveli, Nagpur, Badurpur, Durgapur, Guwahati, and Nangal.
This is a modular course of one-year duration. The main objective of the course is to develop a pool of technically-trained manpower readily available for recruitment to the Indian power sector. Postgraduate diploma in thermal power plant engineering is mandatory qualification to operate or undertake maintenance of any part or whole of power generating station with a capacity of 100 mW and above.
Eligibility: BE/ B.Tech. holders in mechanical/ electrical/ power electronics/ control and instrumentation engineering and those appearing in their final year qualifying examination are eligible to apply online for the test. The upper age-limit is 27 year as on August 31, 2011 for general candidates. Applications are to be filled online at www.npti.in before May 9 after obtaining a demand draft for Rs.800 towards registration fee, drawn in favour of NPTI Nagpur, payable at Nagpur.
On registration, the hard copy of the same, along with relevant documents including the demand draft and two copies of passport size photographs should be sent to the Principal Director, National Power Training Institute (WR), South Ambazari Road, Gopal Nagar, Ngapur - 440022 so as to reach the addressee on or before May 13. Name of applicant should be written on the back side of the photograph. The common entrance test will be held on June 19 at Bangalore, Neyveli, Faridabad, Badarpur, Nagpur, Guwahati and Nangal. NIPER courses
The National Institutes of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) has invited online applications for Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) to be held on July 3 on all India basis for admission to MS (Pharm.), M.Pharm., M.Tech. (Pharm) and MBA Pharm programmes conducted at its various centres. NIPER centres are functioning at Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Hajipur, Rae Bareli, SAS Nagar (Mohali) and Kolkata.
The disciplines/ specialisations available for the postgraduate courses are biotechnology, medicinal chemistry, natural products, pharmaceutical analysis, pharmaceutics, pharmacology and toxicology, pharmacy practice, pharmaco-informatics, pharmaceutical management, pharmaceutical technology (biotechnology/ process chemistry/ formulations), clinical research, regulatory toxicology, traditional medicine.
Students with B.Pharm. / M.Sc. biological sciences, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, life science/ B.Tech. chemical engineering/ M.Sc. physical/ pharmaceutical chemistry/ M.Sc./ B.Tech. bioinformatics/ M.Sc. biochemistry/ biotechnology/ molecular biology/ microbiology/ B.V.Sc./ MBBS/ M.Sc. pharmacology/ toxicology/ medical biotechnology/ zoology/ botany / BAMS with 60 per cent marks can apply. Registration fee is Rs.1,000 for general candidates and Rs.500 for SC/ ST candidates. Maritime courses
The Indian Maritime University, Chennai, has invited applications for common entrance test (CET) to be held on June 19 for admission to its Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS) leading to B.Sc. nautical science; B.Sc. ship building and repair and B.Tech. marine engineering. All these courses have good job potential in the maritime field.
Those who have passed Plus Two examination with physics, chemistry and mathematics with good marks or those have appeared in the qualifying examination and are awaiting result are eligible to apply.
