NPTI entrance test


The National Power Training Institute (NPTI) under the Government of India has invited online applications through the web site www.npti.in for a common entrance test to be held on June 19 for admission to its postgraduate diploma course in thermal power plant engineering conducted at its different centres including Neyveli, Nagpur, Badurpur, Durgapur, Guwahati, and Nangal.


This is a modular course of one-year duration. The main objective of the course is to develop a pool of technically-trained manpower readily available for recruitment to the Indian power sector. Postgraduate diploma in thermal power plant engineering is mandatory qualification to operate or undertake maintenance of any part or whole of power generating station with a capacity of 100 mW and above.


Eligibility: BE/ B.Tech. holders in mechanical/ electrical/ power electronics/ control and instrumentation engineering and those appearing in their final-year qualifying examination are eligible to apply online for the test. The upper age-limit is 27 year as on August 31, 2011 for general candidates. Applications are to be filled online at www.npti.in before May 9 after obtaining a demand draft for Rs.800 towards registration fee, drawn in favour of NPTI Nagpur, payable at Nagpur.


On registration, the hard copy of the same, along with relevant documents including the demand draft and two copies of passport size photographs should be sent to the Principal Director, National Power Training Institute (WR), South Ambazari Road, Gopal Nagar, Ngapur - 440022, so as to reach the addressee on or before May 13. Name of applicant should be written on the back side of the photograph. The common entrance test will be held on June 19 in Bangalore, Neyveli, Faridabad, Badarpur, Nagpur, Guwahati and Nangal.

Maritime courses


The Indian Maritime University, Chennai, has invited applications for common entrance test (CET) to be held on June 19 for admission to its Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS) leading to B.Sc. nautical science; B.Sc. ship building and repair and B.Tech. marine engineering. Those who have passed Plus Two examination with physics, chemistry and mathematics with good marks or those have appeared in the qualifying examination and are awaiting result are eligible to apply. Downloaded application form and information brochure from the web site www.imu.tn.nic.in. Duly filled-in application along with a demand draft for Rs.800 drawn in favour of Indian Maritime University payable at Chennai, and attested copies of relevant certificates should be sent to the Controller Examinations, Indian Maritime University, East Cost Road, Uthandi, Chennai - 600 119, so as to reach the addressee on or before May 27.
